Hermès

The Parisian art of movement. Objects of quiet elegance, drawn with a light hand and made to be lived in.
The House

The House of Hermès

Hermès was founded in Paris in 1837 as a harness and saddle maker, and its watchmaking carries the same values: exceptional materials, patient craft and design that serves daily life with quiet confidence.

From the stirrup-inspired Arceau, drawn by Henri d'Origny in 1978, to the pared-back Cape Cod and the contemporary H08, an Hermès watch pairs Swiss mechanical movements with the house's celebrated leather straps, many finished by hand in its own ateliers.

Your Questions, Answered

Which Hermès watch is right for me?

Each line has its own character. The Cape Cod is the everyday icon, a square within a rectangle on Hermès leather. The Heure H wears the house's initial as the case. The Arceau carries the equestrian roots, the Cut is the contemporary sports watch for women, the H08 the modern masculine, and the Nantucket the most delicate.

What makes Hermès watches different?

Hermès brings a design house's eye to Swiss watchmaking: cases drawn as objects first, from Henri d'Origny's anchor chain geometry to the H shaped Heure H, finished with the leather work Hermès is known for. The result reads as Hermès before it reads as a watch, which is exactly the point.

What is the Hermès double tour strap?

The double tour is an extra long Hermès leather strap that wraps the wrist twice, introduced on the Cape Cod in 1998 and a signature of the house ever since. It wears the watch like a bracelet, and straps can be changed to move one watch between moods.

Can I try the watch on before I decide?

Yes, and you should. A watch reads differently in the metal: the weight in your hand, how the bracelet drapes, how the dial catches the light. A private appointment at our Sandton, Cape Town or Durban boutiques lets you wear it, set it against other pieces on your own wrist, and take your time with a specialist. No obligation, no hurry.

Is Picot & Moss an authorised Hermès watch retailer in South Africa?

Yes. Picot & Moss is an official authorised retailer and service centre for Hermès watches in South Africa. Every watch is supplied with the manufacturer's international warranty and backed by certified servicing in Sandton, Johannesburg.
