The Solar: An Eight Year Battery
The Concept One Solar runs on the Swiss-made Ronda 215 solar movement, which Victorinox specifies for an 8-year battery life. No winding, no routine battery swaps, just light. Around it sits a 39mm brushed stainless steel case with double antishock protection and magnetic resistance, a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a bezel with anti-scratch protection in a sunray satin finish.
The dial is the design story. It is gently curved, with applied indexes and a clean, minimalist layout that reads more dress watch than tool watch. Three rubber strap versions launch in South Africa at R17,495: the unusual storm grey, a blue, and a black. A fourth version pairs the black dial with a stainless steel bracelet at R20,495.

The Automatic: A 68 Hour Reserve
The Concept One Automatic carries the Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G100, a self-winding movement with a 68 hour power reserve. Victorinox notes it is the longest reserve of any of its timepieces to date, enough to set the watch down on Friday evening and pick it up running on Monday morning.
Case and dial architecture match the Solar: 39mm brushed steel, curved dial, luminescent hands and indexes, sapphire crystal, 100 metres of water resistance. Rubber strap versions come in blue, black and green at R28,495, with a black dial bracelet version at R31,995.
The Concept One Automatic with blue dial is the pick of the rubber strap trio. For a full metal wardrobe, the Concept One Automatic on bracelet closes with a deployant clasp.
