Lights, colours, motion—Zenith and contemporary artist Felipe Pantone are back with their third collaborative series, introducing the DEFY SKYLINE TOURBILLON FELIPE PANTONE. This special edition timepiece, a limited release of just 100 pieces, marks an exhilarating fusion of contemporary art and haute horlogerie, set to captivate connoisseurs starting September 12, 2024.

Art Meets Horology: The Zenith and Pantone Collaboration
The DEFY SKYLINE TOURBILLON FELIPE PANTONE is the latest chapter in a series that has already seen remarkable creations. In 2020, Pantone transformed Zenith’s historical Manufacture façade with a bespoke tarpaulin, setting the stage for an ongoing partnership. Their initial DEFY 21 series in 2021 quickly sold out, followed by a groundbreaking DEFY 21 Double Tourbillon in sapphire that set records at the OnlyWatch 2021 charity auction. The DEFY Extreme Felipe Pantone in 2022 continued this legacy of innovation.

Now, Pantone turns his artistic vision to the DEFY SKYLINE TOURBILLON, his first reimagining of a DEFY Skyline model. This latest creation is both compact and versatile, embodying the intricate and original details that have defined their collaboration.

A Visual Symphony of Colour and Light
At first glance, the DEFY SKYLINE TOURBILLON FELIPE PANTONE dazzles with its complex yet minimalist design. Encased in a 41mm octagonal stainless-steel frame, the watch’s geometry and angular lines create a striking visual impact. The alternating satin-brushed and polished finishes, along with the dodecagonal bezel, play with light, adding depth and allure.

Pantone’s signature touch is evident throughout. The tourbillon mechanism, visible through an opening at 6 o’clock, rotates every 60 seconds, keeping the watch animated. This tourbillon is uniquely crafted in the shape of a lightning bolt, a recurring motif in Pantone’s work. The gradient of metallic rainbow tones, achieved through a 3D PVD technique, highlights the artist’s distinct aesthetic

Dial: An Iridescent Masterpiece

The DEFY SKYLINE TOURBILLON FELIPE PANTONE’s dial is a tour de force of design and technology. Crafted from a sapphire disk, the dial features a micro-engraved pattern of concentric circles, reminiscent of Pantone’s iconic moiré effects. The mirrored metallic finish on the back of the sapphire dial, combined with a vignette effect that darkens towards the edges, creates a mesmerising play of colours.

The hands and hour markers, finished in a gradient of rainbow tones, are distorted in Pantone’s signature style, adding a layer of visual intrigue. The complex interplay of the dial’s features results in a highly sophisticated and unique timepiece.

Precision and Elegance

Powered by the EL PRIMERO 3630 high-frequency automatic movement, the DEFY SKYLINE TOURBILLON FELIPE PANTONE offers a power reserve of 60 hours. The movement incorporates Pantone’s chromatic touch with a star-shaped oscillating weight finished in rainbow PVD, complementing the tourbillon cage and dial elements.
